As 10:59 struck, the platform began to fill with smoke and bustle as the Hogwarts Express prepared for its departure. Last minute stragglers were making their way onto the platform, trying to nudge their way through the crowd to get to the crowded train. Windows were open and smiling students (or tearful in the case of many first years) waved to their parents on the platform. Older students were staring at their watches in anticipation as the second hands seemed to drag slower and slower as they neared 11:00.

Today was the day that many students looked forward to during the summer; the day of the train ride had finally come and schooling would start the next day. The older students could already taste the feast that awaited them at the castle. House elves had been struggling to meet their deadline throughout the day. All of the meat and pumpkin juice that a wizard could want would appear on house tables in only hours. First years were talking amongst themselves, debating over which house suited them best. They seemed to already have all of the knowledge they needed to know. Some could already perform a spell of two. Wait...is that a whistle I hear? It must be time to go. I sure hope you're not late!
